THIS DAY

This day is undeniably one of my favorite days of the year.

My Birthday :)

Think what you may, but I just love birthdays.  Even other peoples.  (although I probably love mine a tiny bit more , if I'm honest :]) It's just a fun time to remind people how special they are to you, and bless the year ahead of them!  I also am a big fan of finding THE PRESENT for someone.  Whether its from the shelf of a store, or created with my own hands.  If it screams the birthday boy/girl's name...I just get a warm feeling inside. :)

Anyways, it's been a relaxing day thus far.  We came to Brad's parent's house for brunch (a Sunday tradition that I love) and had a delicious breakfast, topped off with my birthday dessert of choice, a peach crisp. Man I love those things.  Ruth is a beast in the kitchen. :)  I've received phone calls, texts, social media shout-outs. I love ALL OF THEM.  Ya'll make me feel special. I even got a big cheesy grin when I saw at my place at the table the "designated birthday plate".  (yes, i'm turning 26, not 8)

Its quite warm today (for NY in Dec), even though I wouldn't have minded the snowy white landscaping to look at that we had all last week to be here for Christmas. Even with moving I have taken some time to bring a little Christmas cheer which is pretty fun...I will have to snap some pictures for this here blog before it comes down.  We have this h.u.g.e evergreen in the middle of our half circle driveway that Brad thinks we should string lights on and decorate next year.  Could work, if we can rent a lift to the 4/5ths of it. :)

It has now been a week since we've moved in...and I'm not looking back!  There are still boxes floating around here and there, and the walls are bare in anticipation of the painting we plan to do, but it's home.  I just can't wait to see it transform as we finish projects.  Every once in awhile I go out to the garage or barn and "shop" for something new to put in the house, I've found some fun treasures so far. :)

My brother Matthew is here visiting for awhile from NC, he stopped in Friday night for the night and hung out most of Saturday, always great to see that kid. :) He's gonna stop again on his way back down south, I'm looking forward to that.

This is the first year in at least 2-3 years (first year married) that we haven't traveled for Christmas, but it's actually fun to not have that much planned.  We will come to Sam and Ruth's Christmas Eve for fellowship and our family gift exchange, always a good time. :) Christmas day and the week to follow I think there are different family hang out times and locations.  I love this time of year. :)

Hum de dum...this is just such a collection of ramblings. I need to do a meaty post sometime soon! Secretly, I didn't have all that much to say but I wanted to post on my birthday.  Forgive me? ;)

I'll leave you with my birthday selfie. Yes, it is on Instagram and Facebook.  I guess I am just hardcore showing off my beanie that Beard gave me this morning. :)

Happy Sunday ya'll!

last night

It kinda blows my mind knowing that this is our last night residing at 1394 Milo Center Rd.  It blows my mind so much that I'm blogging at 10:44 PM (may never happen again) (no promises though ;]). I wouldn't say I'm super sentimental, but at the same time this house as many memories tied to it.  First house I bought, first house we lived in after getting married, first house I've had to entirely pack to move to a new house. :)  While it definitely served it's purpose for the 2.5ish years I've lived here...I am looking forward to the adventures and "firsts" our new house has in store for us.  The last few months living here I haven't done too much in the way of improving, or decorating because I knew it was coming to an end.  And it was hard for me to invest more, into something that I knew was temporary.  Just a small quirk I have, I would have never made it as a renter.  Random fact about Patty:  I never signed a lease for any rental property.  I rented rooms from friends a couple of times, but just could never bare to do the year lease thing. :) Anyways.  I told Brad that I never want to move again.  This was in the middle of packing today.  Also, I'm not super organized when it comes to that task (packing).  I love the idea of people planning way ahead having boxes on hand and newspaper, and packing their boxes labeling what is in them and what room they belong in.  Here's me:

quickly texts mother-in-law about newspaper (yesterday)
quickly texts local business owner for boxes (yesterday) (and today)
walks around with a box in my hand and gingerly places random things in there, from 3 different rooms.  Sometimes wondering if I will ever want to take that item back out of the box.
Sometimes I remember to write 'glass' on the breakable boxes.

Goodness.  I'm a mess. :)

I forsee a lot of work in the near future, unpacking, sorting, packing my dad up, unpacking my dad...down?? lol.  It's obviously too late for me to be blogging. But anyways...It is all good things though. We will get through it and make memories in the process I'm sure.

Thanks for putting up with this little bit of ramblings, it just didn't seem right not to write.  :)

Goodnight!

homey dreams

Wow, December has proved to be a busy month so far!  I feel like I've neglected this little spot a tad bit, but I think I have good reason. We have been spending spare time over at our new house getting it ready to move...wait for it...this week!  At least that's what we are aiming for.  I will have some more "before" pictures to show, but that will be for later. Lets just say my knees are sore from floor work and I sometimes get claw hand syndrome from a wall paper scraper. :] I don't have much time to chat but I wanted to pop in anyways, and leave some pictures that are inspiring me in my swirling head about how I want the future 3040 Rt 14A to look! Enjoy!
Totally doing this to my washer/dryer, since it WILL be seen when people are over.  That paired with this shelf/storage, and maybe a couple of cabinets above, yes please!

Ive been working soooo hard on Beard to see my vision of barn door(s) divider from one room into the next.
Mustard accent wall (not in bathroom)

I have the perfect place for those shelves above the toilet (now to find the old wood) and I am on the lookout for a cabinet or jelly cupboard or the right hutch to go in the bathroom for towel storage etc since it has nothing of the sort in that huge guest bedroom bathroom, go figure!

My kitchen is not very big, so I love the idea of it being light and airy feeling. So (sorry mom!) I'm pretty sure the white on white deal is gonna fly.  I also love accenting it in places with like a light turquoise/robins egg blue for a pantry door, back of shelves, that sort of thing.

Alittle bit of rustic thrown in there would make it all the more better. (More better, does that work there?)

Oh headboards.  I've been wanting to do a Pinteresty one for our new room, just not sure the look I want yet.  I randomly will type "diy headboard" or something along those lines and see whats out there.  I feel like most of it as been done! My eyes keep wondering back to both of these choices, plus I've seen some pretty neat ones using old doors.  One day hopefully I will have it figured out, and will do a "GREAT HEADBOARD REVEAL"...but for now don't hold your breath, sometimes it takes me awhile to choose things. ;]

If you've got grand suggestions of decorating ideas/tips/just wanna chat...throw them at me!!

MMkay, off to the house I gooooo!
